GCSE Results 2022 25 August 2022 | News Headteacher, Jane Galbraith, is delighted with this year’s GCSE results, demonstrating the hard work, determination and resilience of the Class of 2022. Lathom students have exceeded the results achieved in 2019, and their performance is also consistent with the grades that were awarded by school over the last two years. There are a large number of superb individual performances to be celebrated and every student is able to move on to their choice of destination with the results they have received. The improvements made in all areas of the curriculum are evident when compared to the last published grades in 2019. 63% of students achieved a standard pass (Grade 4 or above) in both English and Maths, with 43% of students achieving a strong pass (Grade 5 or above) in both of these subjects. Lathom’s students’ successes are not limited to the core subjects however with excellent results seen in the Sciences, Humanities subjects and in Modern Foreign Languages. These achievements are further complemented by outstanding performances by the students in Art and Design, Business, Design Technology, Drama, Food Technology, I-Media, PE, Photography and Sports Science. In fact, there is no subject area at Lathom where students have not excelled which is a phenomenal achievement given the challenges of the last two years.Mrs Galbraith said, ‘Everyone at Lathom and in the wider community can be immensely proud of what has been achieved. Lathom is a family school, and these amazing results represent everyone’s hard work and commitment in school, as well as support and encouragement from home.’ Chair of Governors, Linda Bennett offered particular praise for the staff, acknowledging their dedication and willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ at all times for the benefit of all students. These achievements, coupled with Lathom’s hugely positive Ofsted inspection in the summer term, put the school in an excellent position for future successes. Mrs Galbraith added, ‘I cannot wait to share the final Ofsted report with everyone once it is published.’
