We have just been told that we will be inspected on 14 June 2022. The lead inspector will be Ahmed Marikar, HMI. We are informing you because they would like to know what you think about our school. Please take a few minutes to read the letter and guide below. It explains why they inspect schools and what happens during an inspection. Ofsted Letter Download (pdf) Ofsted Guide Download (pdf) Meal Times Morning Break – Students are able to purchase hash browns, pancakes, pastries, waffles, cereal bars and drinks. They can be purchased from the dining room and the catering van. Lunchtime – The catering team work extremely hard to ensure that the meals provided are not only healthy and delicious but also meet the government’s food and nutrition based standards for school lunches. Please see our menus below Packed Lunches Students may bring a packed lunch to school which they will eat in the dining hall. All students are encouraged to drink unflavoured still water to re-hydrate themselves. No energy/fizzy drinks are allowed in school. It is not the school’s policy to dictate to parents what the content of packed lunches should be but the importance of eating sensibly and healthily should not be understated. Use the link below for the School Bus Timetable. Bus Timetable Punctuality One of the aims of Lathom High School is to prepare children for adult life. To this end we expect everyone to be punctual at all times. A student arriving after 8.55am is late and receives a late mark in the register, resulting in a lunchtime detention. Members of staff are always here ready to receive students in the morning. We ask for your co-operation in ensuring that your child leaves home early enough to arrive at school before the bell. Sickness It is a legal obligation that children of school age attend school regularly. If a student is sick, the parent or guardian should telephone school that morning. If a child falls ill in school parents will be contacted to arrange for their child to be collected and taken home. In the event of an accident requiring urgent medical attention an ambulance will be called and parents informed. Policy on holidays during term time The Governing Body of Lathom High School adopted a position of not authorising holidays during term time, in line with Local Authority guidance. Please be aware that if your child incurs unauthorised absences, the Local Authority may issue a Penalty Notice against you. The EU Settlement Scheme has been set up to provide immigration status to those who need it as the UK leaves the EU. It is therefore important that everyone that needs to applies. The EU Settlement Scheme has been designed with European Economic Area (EEA) citizens and their representatives to be simple and straightforward. It will be looking for reasons to grant, not for reasons to refuse. It is estimated that there are 3.5 million EU citizens living in the UK and the Government is committed to enabling them to continue to live here. The UK’s departure from the EU means that EEA citizens, and their family members, will no longer be able to rely on the right of free movement and will need to obtain immigration status to demonstrate their right to remain in the UK. It means that they can continue to be eligible for: Public services, such as healthcare and schools; Public funds and pensions; British citizenship, if they meet the requirements and want to apply. The Scheme opened on 30 March 2019 and applications must be made by June 2021. You can still apply if either: the deadline for you to apply is after 30 June 2021 you have ‘reasonable grounds’ for why you’re applying now, and not by the deadline or in the time since the deadline passed
